This Blood Collection training is a combination of theory and hands-on practical activities to reinforce participants the knowledge and skills required to perform blood collection.
Description
The Blood Collection training is a combination of both theoretical and hands-on practical
Activities, providing participants the knowledge and skills required to perform this procedure. Practical practice is provided using the Vacutainer blood collection system, needle and syringe and wing infused equipment with realistic training arms.
Simulation practise will allow skills to be demonstrated before moving onto collection/s from the human arm (these skills must be shown before this can happen; the trainer/assessor will determine this for each person individually.)

Training content
Small group training covers:

Anatomy of the upper limb identifying veins indicated for blood taking

Demonstration and practice on a life-like arm using the correct blood collection technique.

Choice of the type and size of equipment, site choice and patient preparation.

Assessments
Assessments are both practical and written. After successfully demonstrating correct knowledge has been retained and safe correct blood collection skills preformed a statement of ATTENDANCE will be issued. Each certificate will also include the skills covered including the hours spend with WASP and the correct amount of CPD points.
What’s included:

Approx 8 hours of refresher blood collection training by a certified trainer/assessor

Theory; all necessary training paperwork including manual/s and assessment/s documents

Small group teaching

Hands on practice with realistic arms – simulation practise will allow skills to be demonstrated before moving onto collection/s from the human arm (these skills must be shown before this can happen; the trainer/assessor will determine this for each person individually.)

Light Refreshments
Suitable for: Doctors, nurses and allied health professionals requiring up-skilling in blood collection technique.
Prerequisites: Recent employment in a clinical environment.
This is a refresher training session, work-placement is not needed nor offered, employment is not given or offered; this training is not to gain employment it is to refresh the blood collection skills for the medical industry you’re either working in, or have just left: with intentions of yourself securing another position in the medical field you already have the skills for.
WASP does not offer work or to find participants work.
Refund, Transfer and Cancellation Policy
CANCELLATION
A refund is available if notice of cancellation is received: 14 working days prior to training commencement. An admin fee of $250 will apply to all cancellations.
WASP reserves the right to cancel a course if minimum numbers are not achieved, with a full refund or transfer to another course date available.
RESCHEDULING
Transfer to another course date without loss of payment is available if notice is received: 14 working days prior to training commencement: Rescheduling or transfer to another training date within the above times will not receive a refund of the full cost paid and will be required to book onto a new training session, a re-booking fee of $100 will apply.
